This morning at about 6:30 I woke up to Dallin with a panicked look on his face (from what I could see with blurry eyes anyway) He was holding the tooth he pulled out last night and telling me that the tooth fairy didn’t come… my turn to be panicked. My thoughts raced for a minute.
“Maybe he couldn’t find it because your room is so messy.” I said
With a short pause and a look of relief, he asks “Dad, can I clean my room today?”
...Genius!
“yes,” I say “after you do your homework, you can clean your room” (said trying to suppress my grin.)
Talk about turning tragedy into triumph! Whatever else happens today at least it started with an epic win!
Last night Dallin said he thought it was time for this tooth to come out. He walked out of the room and came back about an hour later and said grinning with a new gap in his smile "Dad, I just punched myself and it came right out"
...Well, that's one way to do it... just sorry me and my camera missed that one boy battle!
Let's hope the tooth fairy remembers tonight.

Awesome!!!!
Nice move on your part Dad....all the times our tooth fairy forgot, not once did I have such a brilliant idea. I'm impressed.
You're doing an amazing job--I've never met you or your family but as I read each update, my heart is touched. And I'm certain your sweet wife is looking down with a huge smile and two thumbs up because you have taken this on with courage and grace.
Your children are so blessed to have you!
lol this made me smile! I think of you and your family often and still keep you in my prayers. You might not feel like it but you are doing a wonderful job and your strength is inspiring so many people!!
I can't tell you how many stories I've heard of the tooth fairy forgetting. My mom forgot once with me, she sent me to go do something and when I came back she said maybe the tooth fairy accidently stuck it under the wrong pillow. She had put it under my brothers pillow to cover her mistake. You may need to use that one later.
I just have to tell you that you impress me. You are an amazing father, and such a loving and devoted husband. And bravo on the tooth fairy victory! I have had to start setting an alarm on my phone, so it reminds me to not forget. And we have also, had to cover our tracks by saying oh you must have hit the money off on to the floor, and as we crawl around with it in our hands looking for it we suddenly find it.
This is in no way the same, but I lost my dad a little over a year ago in a atv accident, and I still feel like it is a bad dream. And it has gotten easier, it is still hard and sad, but it doesn't feel like my heart has been torn out anymore, and my mom says the same thing.
Keep up the good work! You are awesome and I will continue to pray for you and your sweet little ones.
Nice recovery! We have done that before- forgot! You're not alone on that!!
Hey, the tooth fairy gets lost ALL of the time around here. Almost every tooth actually. :) This last tooth she was four days late! I've been following your blog for some time but never think to comment. When you make it down to AZ we'd be glad to help out.
That was Brilliant! I laughed so hard when I read this. :) Thanks for making my afternoon. I am going to have to store that one away for the future. :)
Haaha. I must say, this is a total stay at home parent moment, "genius!"
Love reading your perspective. I drop in and read every once in a while, thank you, thank you, thank you so much for sharing your experience!
